OptionParser Command-Line Options the Ruby Way

OptionParser Command-Line Options the Ruby Way Ruby comes furnished with a ground-breaking and adaptable instrument to parse order line choices, OptionParser. When you figure out how to utilize this, youll never return to glancing through ARGV physically. OptionParser has various highlights that make it very engaging Ruby developers. In the event that youve ever parsed alternatives by hand in Ruby or C, or with the getoptlong C work, youll perceive how invite a portion of these progressions are. OptionParser is DRY. You just need to compose the order line switch, its contentions, the code to run when its experienced, and the order line switch depiction once in your content. OptionParser will naturally produce help screens for you from this depiction, just as gather everything about the contention from its portrayal. For instance, it will know the document [FILE] choice is discretionary and takes a solitary contention. Additionally, it will realize that [-no]-verbose is extremely two alternatives and will acknowledge both forms.OptionParser will consequently change over choices to a particular class. On the off chance that the choice takes a number, it can change over any string gave the order line to a whole number. This eliminates a portion of the monotony engaged with parsing order line options.Everything is extremely contained. The entirety of the choices are in a similar spot, and the impact of the alternative is directly close by the definition for the choice. On the of f chance that alternatives must be included, changed or somebody just needs to perceive what they do, there is just one spot to look. When the order line is parsed, a solitary Hash or OpenStruct will hold the outcomes. Enough Already, Show Me Some Code So heres a straightforward case of how to utilize OptionParser. It doesnt utilize any of the propelled highlights, only the nuts and bolts. There are three choices, and one of them takes a boundary. The entirety of the alternatives are obligatory. There are the - v/verbose and - q/brisk alternatives, just as the - l/logfile FILE choice. Also, the content takes a rundown of records free of the alternatives. #!/usr/canister/env ruby # A content that will claim to resize various pictures require optparse # This hash will hold the entirety of the choices # parsed from the order line by # OptionParser. alternatives {} optparse OptionParser.new do|opts|  â # Set a flag, showed at the top  â # of the assistance screen.  â opts.banner Usage: optparse1.rb [options] file1 file2 ...  â # Define the alternatives, and what they do  â options[:verbose] bogus  â opts.on( - v, verbose, Output more data ) do  â â â options[:verbose] genuine  â end  â options[:quick] bogus  â opts.on( - q, speedy, Perform the errand rapidly ) do  â â â options[:quick] genuine  â end  â options[:logfile] nil  â opts.on( - l, logfile FILE, Write log to FILE ) do|file|  â â â options[:logfile] document  â end  â # This shows the assistance screen, all projects are  â # accepted to have this choice.  â opts.on( - h, help, Display this screen ) do  â â â put s selects  â â â exit  â end end # Parse the order line. Recollect there are two structures # of the parse strategy. The parse strategy basically parses # ARGV, while the parse! technique parses ARGV and expels # any alternatives discovered there, just as any boundaries for # the choices. Whats left is the rundown of records to resize. optparse.parse! puts Being verbose if options[:verbose] puts Being snappy if options[:quick] puts Logging to document #{options[:logfile]} if options[:logfile] ARGV.each do|f|  â puts Resizing picture #{f}...  â sleep 0.5 end Inspecting the Code To begin with, the optparse library is required. Keep in mind, this isnt a jewel. It accompanies Ruby, so theres no compelling reason to introduce a jewel or require rubygems before optparse. There are two intriguing articles with regards to this content. The first is choices, pronounced at the top-most degree. Its a straightforward void hash. At the point when alternatives are characterized, they compose their default esteems to this hash. For instance, the default conduct is for this content to not be verbose, so options[:verbose] is set to bogus. At the point when choices are experienced on the order line, theyll change the qualities in choices to mirror their impact. For instance, when - v/verbose is experienced, it will dole out consistent with options[:verbose]. The second intriguing article is optparse. This is simply the OptionParser object. At the point when you build this item, you pass it a square. This square is run during development and will fabricate a rundown of choices in interior information structures, and prepare to parse everything. Its in this square all the enchantment occurs. You characterize all the alternatives here. Characterizing Options Every alternative follows a similar example. You initially compose the default an incentive into the hash. This will occur when the OptionParser is developed. Next, you call the on technique, which characterizes the choice itself. There are a few types of this strategy, however just one is utilized here. Different structures permit you to characterize programmed type transformations and sets of qualities a choice is confined to. The three contentions utilized here are the short structure, long structure, and depiction of the choice. The on strategy will gather various things from the long structure. One thing is will construe is the nearness of any boundaries. On the off chance that there are any boundaries present on the choice, it will pass them as boundaries to the square. In the event that the choice is experienced on the order line, the square went to the on strategy is run. Here, the squares dont do a lot, they simply set qualities in the choices hash. More should be possible, for example, watching that a record alluded to exists, and so on. On the off chance that there are any mistakes, special cases can be tossed from these squares. At long last, the order line is parsed. This occurs by calling the parse! technique on an OptionParser object. There are really two types of this strategy, parse and parse!. As the rendition with the shout point suggests, it is dangerous. In addition to the fact that it parses the order line, however it will expel any choices found from ARGV. This is something critical, it will leave just the rundown of records provided after the choices in ARGV.

Is It Safe To Travel By Airplanes Engineering Essay

Is It Safe To Travel By Airplanes Engineering Essay Around 500 years back, the measure of time required to travel a thousand mile was more than days and in some cases even months. In those days, the standard individuals used to go by foot and just the rich could manage the cost of creature driven trucks. This wastage of time was diminished by the presentation of motor controlled vehicles and trains. Despite the fact that these vehicles were quicker than the creature driven trucks, it despite everything took days to go around thousand miles. Along these lines another methods for transportation must be concocted by which this time wastage could be lessened. Along these lines the Wright siblings had the option to make the main plane, which could travel a lot quicker than the trains and vehicles. In this way the time required to travel was definitely diminished by the innovation of planes. Because of the colossal advances in innovation in the 21st century, there are planes that can travel significantly quicker than sound. These planes tak e not exactly an hour to travel in excess of thousand miles. Going by the methods for air has become the most quickest and basic technique for transport particularly for significant stretches. At the current circumstance, we can go far and wide in under a day not at all like the past when it used to take a very long time to do as such. Hence we would now be able to travel anyplace on the planet when we have a little snooze and an espresso. In any case, as much of the time of mechanical progressions, we can't accomplish such extraordinary accomplishment without a cost. One such value we needed to pay again and again is the lives of the person that was lost in the various plane accidents we had since the time we began utilizing the plane. The plane accidents have guaranteed broiler ten thousand lives in the most recent decade in more than 1800 mishaps. In spite of the fact that the quantity of mishaps has been diminished to a large portion of the number 10 years back, the quantity of losses of life hasnt diminished a lot. This is on the grounds that as the innovation expanded, the quantity of travelers on a flight increments. Prior just around hundred individuals could go in a plane and now there are flights that can oblige more than 500. In this manner the quantity of travelers engaged with one mishap expanded and d espite the fact that there are less mishaps, a few are sufficient to take in excess of 1000 lives. Flight fatalities have existed since the hour of the creation of planes. Its first happening on one of the models of the Wright siblings causing demise of a traveler ready and wounds to Orville Wright himself. Starting that occurrence certain security highlights were added to the plane so as to diminish mishaps. The flight security gear industry has gotten a major one and now is a billion-dollar industry all alone. The aeronautics security has improved fundamentally in the course of recent long stretches of its usage. In the course of the most recent couple of years over 95% of the individuals in U.S. plane accidents have made due because of the new security highlights presented in them. One of the most startling aeronautics mishaps was the Tenerife occurrence. The catastrophe has caused the most elevated number of fatalities. In excess of 500 fifty individuals kicked the bucket in this catastrophe. This happened when a KLM Boing 747 slammed into a Pan Am747 at Los Rodeos Airport in Spain. The reason for the accident was the pilots mistake. The pilot of the KLM flight endeavored to departure without freedom and slammed into the maneuvering Pan American flight. This occurrence was totally the misstep on the pilot however there are sure ones that are likewise caused because of mechanical disappointment. The accident of the JAL Flight 123 was one such case. Around 500 twenty were dead in this mishap when the airplane experienced an unstable decompression because of an erroneously fixed toward the back weight bulkhead. This happened in mid flight and obliterated the greater part of the flights vertical stabilizer. This likewise cut off the entirety of the water powered l ines, making it practically wild. For this situation the pilots were more understanding yet their experience could just save the plane flying for a couple of something else. The plane at last collided with a mountain making it the single-airplane debacle with the most number of fatalities. This was an instance of chiefly mechanical issues and not the pilots blunder. The presentation of the airborne impact evasion framework was done after the 1996 Chakhri Dadri mid-air crash. In this mishap a Saudia Flight 763 smashed on an Air Kazakhstan flight 1907 when the Kazakh pilot was flying lower than the elevation he was offered freedom to. This mishap asserted 349 lives, which incorporates all the team and travelers on board both the flights. The airborne crash evasion framework gives data about any airplanes or flying articles close by along these lines helping the pilot to change its course so as to forestall impact. As the innovation got propelled, the speed with which the airplanes could fly expanded just as the wellbeing highlights required to go at those velocities. Probably the best plane at any point made was the Concorde. It was considered as a flying symbol and a designing wonder. This plane was fueled by a turbojet motor, which made it workable for it to travel quicker than sound. This supersonic traveler plane made the time required to make a trip to wherever a large portion of the current time required. The creation of these planes was halted not long after the Air France flight 4590s accident. This was a Concorde flight booked from Charles de Gaulle air terminal to JKF air terminal. It collided with an inn in Gonesse, France soon after its departure. Each of the nine crewmembers and one hundred travelers on board couldn't endure the mishap. This episode occurred because of a chain of blunders and the fundamental one being surpassing the greatest departure weight limit. This cutoff was not surpassed just barely however by a ton. Despite the fact that the flight could have dealt with this exorbitant weight, the flight couldn't departure appropriately on the grounds that the focal point of gravity of the entire weight was focused on the back of the flight. Likewise a titanium compound strip dropped out of a Continental Air trip during departure five minutes before the departure this flight. The runway staff didn't do the vital advance to review the runway and evacuate this seventeen-inch long garbage. It was a piece of the convention for Concorde departure readiness that the runway ought to be reviewed before departure. Because of this flotsam and jetsam lying on the runway, it cut a feel burnt out on the Concorde flight breaking it. Because of the centripetal powers, a piece from the tire that gauged ten pounds struck the underside of the airplanes wing structure with speed in excess of 300 mph. In spite of the fact that this didn't legitimately crack any fuel tanks, it convey a weight wave causing one of its fuel tank to break at its most fragile point. This was the fuel tank that was overloaded before during fuel move. Either the electric circular segment of the arrival apparatus or some cut off electric link touched off the spilling fuel. Because of this fire, both motor one and two flooded and lost all its capacity. Be that as it may, following a couple of moments, motor one recouped yet an enormous fire was created around the subsequent motor. Along these lines the First Engineer needed to close down the motor two so as to forestall spreading of fire. Since the flight had crossed the base speed to departure, the group proceeded with departure, however the team couldn't do so appropriately with the staying three motors as the cut off links forestalled the withdrawal of the undercarriage. Subsequently the plane couldn't increase a speed in excess of 200 bunches and a greatest height of 200 ft. The expanding fire made the wing crumble because of incredibly high temperature. The Engine one flooded again yet neglected to recoup this time. Because of the lopsided push on the flight, the flight began to bank aside for in excess of 100 degrees. The team attempting to level the plane, hindered the other two motors. This made the flight free it velocity and made it incomprehensible for the group to control it and the plane began to slow down and thusly crash. After this accident, the utilization of Concorde trips for traveler transportation was halted until the examination of this case was finished. The individuals to be considered capable were the ground staffs who were mindful to ensure that the runway was clear. Specialists guarantee the supersonic airplane hit a bit of stray titanium from another airplane, puncturing its tire which set off a chain response that caused the disaster.(Airline Industry Information, 2004). On the off chance that the ground staff would have done review appropriately, the entire debacle could have been forestalled. Another episode happened when the Uruguayan Air Force flight 571 conveying 45 individuals, including a rugby crew collided with Andes. In excess of 10 individuals passed on in the accident and some others by the wounds and the chilly climate. However, the rest was protected following 70 days of this episode. This mishap was a direct result of the awful climate, which limited the flying of the plane over 30000 feet. Likewise the entire region of the mountains was shrouded in mists, which brought down the perceivability of the pilot. Because of low perceivability the plane collided with a pinnacle, which made destruction one of its wings subsequently removing the control from the pilot and smashing the plane. In spite of the fact that the pilot didn't know about these circumstances, the co-pilot was. The pilot had not been flying the plane, however the copilot had crossed the Andes previously. (Peruse, 1975). The copilot despite everything couldn't spare the plane however made his best to do as such. One of the mishaps that has been caused because of mechanical disappointments and no team could have maintained a strategic distance from was the Valujet Flight 592 episode. It guaranteed 110 lives in that mishap. This was a direct result of some terminated oxygen generators place in the freight compartment by the upkeep temporary workers of Valujet. There was a little fire in the load compartment and as indicated by ordinary methods the fire would have stifled itself as this was a water/air proof compartment and when the oxygen flexibly in this compartment was done, the fire would quench itself. In any case, the oxygen generators

Learning How to Read Essay -- Cognitive Process, Childhood, Reading

Figuring out how to peruse is a complex intellectual procedure which advances all through youth. So as to grow great perusing and composed aptitudes, an individual requires both orthographic information and phonological mindfulness (Waldie et al., 2013). Orthographic information is the capacity to utilize data put away in memory to speak to communicated in language in composed structure. Then again, phonological mindfulness alludes to the capacity to distinguish and comprehend sound structure and phonemes (the littlest units of particular sound in a particular language). Models of perusing, for example, the equal circulated handling (PDP) models propose that both orthographic and phonological frameworks cooperate to initiate lexical semantics (Waldie et al., 2013). A few youngsters have extraordinary trouble in figuring out how to peruse, and if this difficult endures, might be evaluated to recognize whether they have a learning incapacity, for example, dyslexia. In this paper a conc ise meaning of dyslexia will be given trailed by a short presentation of early research that focuses towards a natural reason for dyslexia. Explicit neural pathways and cerebrum locales will at that point be recognized and discoveries talked about corresponding to explicit geological zones of the mind explored in dyslexics. There are a wide range of meanings of dyslexia, yet most examinations portray dyslexia as a neurobiological issue bringing about perusing disability in spite of the scholarly fitness, sociocultural chances, and inspiration to peruse with exactness and familiarity (Lyon et al., 2003). It can likewise be described by troubles in spelling, working memory and interpreting capacities. Moreover, dyslexia can be comprehensively ordered into two primary sorts: formative or obtained, despite the fact that there are num... ...f Neurology, 7(1), pp. 35 - 46. A Quick Look at Castiglione and Cellini Life Essay Example for Free

A Quick Look at Castiglione and Cellini Life Essay Lawrence in his book Culture and Values A Survey of the Humanities, expressed that Early sixteenth-century Renaissance culture was an examination in contrasts. The period not just denoted when the absolute most refined masterful achievements were accomplished, it was additionally a time of extraordinary social upheaval(332). Actually, there were numerous remarkable craftsmen around then, among them were Castiglione known for their way of thinking of life and Cellini the main craftsman who truly carried on with his own life. Castiglione was a balanced man with valor soul as the creator portrayed He was an adaptable man an individual of significant inclining, outfitted with physical and military abilities, and had of a respectable and refined demeanor(332). The way that he accomplished and noble, he worked at the Urbino court from 1504 to 1506 and chose to compose The Courtier that took him dozen years. As indicated by the book he composed, a genuine courteous fellows ought to have cerebrum and have sufficient information about history however the most significant thing is don't depend in Christian. He likewise referenced in his book about how to refined politeness since when we reclassified civility, we can clean the court. A cleaned court prompts a perfect nation. Also, a balanced individual as indicated by Castiglione ought to do all thing sprezzatura implies conduct in which each activity is don't with exertion and however about it. The impact of his book mostly affected to the high societies that showed what respectable men ought to be. He envisioned a subjects world is a world affluent and distinguished. Cellini was a skilled Florentine goldsmith and stone worker whose life, honestly chronicled, was an apparently ceaseless display of savagery, interest, fight, sexual overabundance, pretention, and political machination(333). He carried on a time of strict, political, social and military. He was the principal craftsman ever honestly tell about his own life at this period. Conversely with Castiglione who composed The Courtier, Cellinis life was typical, he did anything he desire, he set out to adore and couldn't care less how open condemned him. To put it plainly, Cellini didn't consider the most gifted stone workers and no one can deny his expertise as a specialist. A breezy look of Castiglione and Cellini show us the complexity in people lifestyle. In one hand, Castiglione was appeared to be great yet in my perspective, his conjured up universe was difficult to be reach. In the other hand, I like Cellini who was a typical person with his own ability. Life is short and possibly he knew it and he dated to do bizarre thing regardless of popular sentiment. My Mountain Climbing Team

My Mountain Climbing  Team In two days, I will be officially graduating this place. I will be part of the first graduating class of 6â€"14s. (Computer Science, Economics, and Data Science) But the most important thing that I take with me isnt the piece of paper, but the lifelong ties to the people who I grew with together (bet you guessed that). One of the primary reasons I chose MIT was to find Good People(TM). I didnt really know what that meant at the time, but I knew that I wanted to find down-to-earth, genuine people that wanted to do good in the world. The past few years, Ive been learning what that means to me, but I never forgot this passage that on Admissions that started it all: When we admit a class of students to MIT, its as if were choosing a 1,100-person team to climb a very interesting, fairly rugged mountain?-?together.  â€¦We are emphatically not looking for a batch of identical perfect climbers; we are looking for a richly varied team of capable people who will support, surprise and inspire each other. So when I was applying to MIT, I had to answer this prompt: Describe the world you come from; for example, your family, clubs, school, community, city, or town. How has that world shaped your dreams and aspirations?(*) (200- 250 words). And this is what I said. I aspire to be part of a community that inspires me to create, challenges me to accept who I am, and encourages me to develop my interests. A place where ideas are as fluid as electrons in an E- field, motivating me to learn how to create and then create. Like my clubs, a community of people I share and develop interests with, enthusiasms pool together in a common interest. Constantly evolving and revolving around ideas as if one large club, the place would recruit a remarkable amount of energy to help pull it and me forward. A place that redefines myself and has mirrors showing different reflections making me question and reaffirm who I am. In my schools community Ive had plentiful opportunities to challenge myself through unrestricted advanced level classes. However my peers challenge me even more to raise my own expectations of what I can achieve. Like one great big group test where we work to help one another, the community would push each of us towards our goals. A place where I feel that people around me are balloons always pulling me upwards. Surrounding me are my friends, mentors, and family who constantly encourage me to not just go with the wind but find my own direction and horizon. I look up to them, aspiring to integrate individual qualities that theyve developed and that I admire. I dream of redefining my world through this community while being honest in what I do, believe, and want so that I can feel and create my own freedom in how I change. Well, somehow I stumbled out of this place having found just that. (The following is a non-exhaustive list) The people who challenge me: My 15.276(Communicating with Data) Instructor who, after I received a lowest-in-class grade for a presentation, recorded frame by frame comments in my video recording so that I could watch and learn from My flatmate Emily T 17 who doesnt let me make excuses for leaving dirty dishes all over our kitchen The people who create with me:   Previous pika(independent living group) housemates who, together we maintained and upkept a house of 27+ people and made dinner for each other every night with Vegan, Vegetarian, and gluten-free options Friends that sang If youre voting and you know it, clap your hands to the tune of If youre happy and you know it after a full day of talking to students and helping people vote in this Falls Cambridge City Council Election Tho T 20 who studied with me in the Stud for four days straight for the 6.036(Machine Learning) final and together helped each other learn an immense amount of content The people who help me see myself: Economics TAs who spent way past sunset hours crash coursing me in fundamental Microecon 101 and Econometrics I was missing and helped me see myself who could more intuitively understand Economics Hallmates who helped stress-buzz my hair and set me on a path of never having to pay for a haircut ever again and just doing it myself The people who helped get me past my own limits: Zoë R 17 who worked with me all semester, shaping up my study and reading habits while helping me understand what it means (and why it is necessary for self-sustainability) to be kind to myself Xiaolu, my MIT Mental Health therapist who worked with me for two years, helping me understand that yes I do in fact have ADHD, and no Im not taking advantage of it, and yes you are that scatterbrained and heres how we can work with that. The people who inspire me:   Friends like Duncan Wheeler 18 whos doing a PhD in oceanography to pursue policy and science together by helping better predict the impact and trend of climate disasters My other flatmate Amber H 10 whos starting a non-profit to better predict international high-risk conflict zones from climate change effects after doing Course 2 stuff in developing countries And the people who helped me to freedom:   Admissions blogs readers like you who, after my very stressed out post now almost over a month ago, sent me such wonderful and thoughtful emails of encouragement. Seeing parents and friends say things like I couldve written that exact thing made suffering, so much more bearable. My other other flatmate Thomas D 15 who helped me crash study for the 6.046 final 12â€"5am the night before the exam- which helped me pull a B W00T!!!! Mindblowingly generous friends who helped financially support me this semester when personal circumstance blew all such security out the window And Phoebe Wang (1995â€"2014), who despite her passing my freshman year, had been so critical in helping me even consider applying as a fellow and recent Conestoga HS alum. I carry her memory knowing that while she wasnt able to graduate, she most definitely is a part of mine. tl;dr I got through MIT with a fuckton of help I promise you that counterfactual world me without help wouldnt have and I dont need to have Economics in my degree to tell you that. I consider myself ridiculously lucky. Without all of this, I easily would be writing something very different right now, and that kind of fear motivates me to give back, help others who are still struggling on their way up. But meanwhile, the view at the top of this summit is breathtaking and Im taking a moment to breathe, recover, and rest. As I catch up with friends and hang out at Senior Week events, I can tell Im getting high off low-oxygen altitude, selectively forgetting what it was like to struggle for long days and nights at MIT. I cant tell you whether it is worth it. Not while knowing that I have friends who werent as lucky. They either never made it to the top or are currently living in intense uncertainty about it. Some of those same friends inspire me with their resilience to dig themselves out of sudden avalanches and come out maybe even steadier than most. But I can tell you that what I hoped for when I entered this place, which was to be broken down and built back up, was definitely done. Im lucky because Good People(TM) took the time to slow down, stop, sometimes even turn around on their ascent, to make sure that I didnt stay down.   #peopleoverpsets Therefore for me, I leave MIT satisfied and comforted by having fallen so many times, with as many times and more having been helped back up.   I leave with priceless trust and faith, the kind that can only come from the experience of starting with so little. All of this trust and faith builds a certain kind of courage, the kind that I will need very soon as I figure out whats next for me. Meanwhile, still safely being surrounded by close friends, working with them to better our community and groups beyond that, it is most definitely going to be hard to leave MIT. But I definitely wont be leaving without taking the immense love everyone has shared with me, into the world. So to them,   And you, And so, many, many more, Thank you. Thank you for letting me wake up into this dream that is my life today that still has hope for tomorrow. (Follow-up post to come on post-graduation blogging plans, dont worry, therell be more for sure. As always, feel free to say hi at [emailprotected]) Post Tagged #6.036 #Course 6-14 #pika

A dramatic comedy villain should resemble someone of a...

A dramatic comedy villain should resemble someone of a horrid disposition whose main goal in life is to ruin others. Horace Walpole once said ‘This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel’ . Don John as the most passive villain in Much Ado seems to settle directly upon this line. The man of few words emerges as the most disagreeable and wicked character in the play. Yet Shakespeare assigns Don John the redeeming quality of his honesty and ensures that he receives a lot of sympathy from the audience through Don John’s description of himself announcing his ultimate punishment by a hypocritical society which rejects him from the very moment of birth. This is due to Don John’s honest and emotional character†¦show more content†¦Shakespeare uses a considerable amount of dramatic irony throughout the play with most of the characters including Hero being naà ¯ve towards Don John’s personality and behaviour resulting in dramatic irony being added to the play throughout this consequently adding comic effect to the play of Much Ado about Nothing through the character of Don John trying to act how he is expected to act but not always succeeding. In addition in Shakespeare’s comedy play Merchant of Venice the villain was the character of Shylock who ultimately wanted revenge for the loss of his daughter much like Don John who wants revenge for his brother Don Pedro winning the battle. However it is questioned whether Shylock was a villain or a victim much like the character of Don John, causing the audience to have mixed opinions as to whether Don John is a victim or a villain. Arguably Due to Don John’s ‘illegitimacy’ Bastards are automatically labelled as ‘trouble’- ’Bastards are envious: For he that cannot possibly mend his case will do what he can to impair others.’ Don John acted the way that was expected of him due to social values during th e Elizabethan time period the play was set in. Therefore values have changed and people tend to be less stereotypical this not only adds dramatic effect to the play through Don John’s social status it also adds comic effect as Don John does not adequately succeed in playing the role of a villain.Show MoreRelatedOrganisational Theory230255 Words   |  922 Pagestogether the very diverse strands of work that today qualify as constituting the subject of organisational theory. Essay about Aristotles Ethics - 593 Words

Aristotle’s thoughts on ethics conclude that all humans must have a purpose in life in order to be happy. I believe that some of the basics of his ideas still hold true today. This essay points out some of those ideas. It was Aristotle’s belief that everything, including humans, had a telos or goal in life. The end result or goal was said to be happiness or â€Å"eudaimonia†. He explained that eudaimonia was different for each person, and that each had a different idea of what it meant. Further, he said that people must do things in moderation, but at the same time do enough. The theory, of â€Å"the golden mean of moderation† was the basis to Aristotles idea of the human telos and concluded that living a virtuous life must be the same for all†¦show more content†¦He said was also important to understand the acts performed towards virtue, because it directly related to the character of the resulting morals. Aristotle felt that fear and pain influenced ethics, as people would avoid that which he/she was scared of and/or that would cause pain. He believe friendships to be vital in order to be a good person, and that it required â€Å"reciprocal and explicit goodwillâ₠¬ . Aristotle taught that friendships were uncommon, but could be achieved requiring time to build familiarity and trust. He claimed that this perfect virtue must be achieved and maintained for the lifetime. Aristotle lists honor, pleasure, and wealth as the things believed to make humans happy. He believed that because honor could be easily taken away it was superficial and that pleasure, although enjoyable, was merely an â€Å"animal like quality†. Wealth was described as a vehicle to achieve greater status. The moderation of the three vices could be achieved but would not, in-itself produce or guarantee eudaimonia. Instead, Aristotle was of the opinion that wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice, would better lead person to happiness. As one reads though the translations of Aristotle’s thoughts, you begin to realize the complexity, yet the common sense of his work. Modern day people have a goal in life, to achieve a certain amount of success and to live life relatively happy. Most agree that to get to that goal, the populous must conform and participateShow MoreRelatedAristotles Nichomachean Ethics1251 Words   |  6 PagesAristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics explores the idea of an ethical framework based on virtues, deliberation, and choice. Lady Augusta Bracknell in the Importance of Being Ernest

Lady Augusta Bracknell In The Importance of Being Ernest The most memorable character and one who has a tremendous impact on the audience is Lady Augusta Bracknell. Wilde’s audience would have identified most with her titled position and bearing. Wilde humorously makes her the tool of the conflict, and much of the satire. She serves well the plot and the theme of the play. She is the strong hand who forces the whole play to move forward with a happy ending. . Generally, Lady Bracknell is first and foremost a symbol of Victorian earnestness and the unhappiness it brings as a result. She is powerful, arrogant, ruthless to the extreme, conservative, and proper. In many ways, she represents Wilde’s opinion of Victorian upper-class†¦show more content†¦Such as, Marriage, class discrimination, manners and sincerity. Those themes are presented with the Lady Bracknell’s help. Wilde has created, with Augusta Bracknell, a memorable instrument of his satiric wit, questioning all he sees in Victorian upper-class society. With her power and weakness shown, she, as an upper class lady, connects and presents the themes in the play. Following Lines is a general view of Lady Bracknell’s importance for representing the upper class. The line is immaterial. Mr. Worthing, I confess I feel somewhat bewildered by what you have just told me. To be born, or at any rate bred, in a hand-bag, whether it had handles or not, seems to me to display contempt for the ordinary decencies of family life that reminds one of the worst excesses of the French Revolution. And I presume you know what that unfortunate movement led to? As for the particular locality in which the hand-bag was found, a cloak-room at a railway station might serve to conceal a social indiscretion - has probably, indeed, been used for that purpose before now-but it could hardly be regarded as an assured basis for a recognised position in good society. Will charging people higher health insurance premiums help curb poor health habits? How should we measure it?† Barr addresses the â€Å"danger of approaching health as a moral imperative† and references Faith Fitzgerald, who points out the â€Å"tyranny of health†, where those who are unhealthy in some way are deemed to have behaved poorly. The author explains that people cannot be judged for their bad habits and resulting poor health2. Yet, in some cases, how can people not be held liable for their harmful decisions? It is unfair to encumber those citizens who make healthy lifestyle choices with the health care costs of those who have made detrimental decisions and behave in manners that create risks to their health and wellbeing. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles refer to the standard framework of guidelines for financial accounting used in any given jurisdiction; generally known as accounting standards. GAAP includes the standards, conventions, and rules accountants follow in recording and summarizing, and in the preparation of financial statements. Third-parties who must rely on such information have a right to be assured that the data are free from bias and inconsistency, whether deliberate or not. For this reason, financial accounting relies on certain standards or guides that are called Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Project Team Acquisition free essay sample

Keeping together is progress, Working together is success. Henry Ford This is one of the eight executing processes in Project Management which falls under the Human Resource knowledge area. The objective of this process is to confirm the availability of human resources and obtain the required team members needed for the execution of a project. The roles, responsibilities and duration the team members are required for are outlined and regularly updated in the Human Resource Plan which is a part of the Project Management Plan. A team can be defined as a collection of interdependent individuals who work together, are committed to a common goal and share responsibility for specific outcomes for which they are mutually accountable. Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success† – Unknown. Teams are a great way to make the most of employee talents and because they can be assembled, organized and dispersed, they are more flexible and reactive to changing events than the conventional departments or other forms of permanent groupings. We will write a custom essay sample on Project Team Acquisition or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This document contains all the necessary actions for defining, preparing, integrating, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing the project. [4] An important section of this document is the Human Resource plan which contains the staffing management plan. The staffing management plan provides details of how the project team members will be acquired and dispersed based on the conditions of the project. [4] For example, a project may require an instrumentation engineer in the fourth phase of the project. The project manager may be required to present a job description of what the instrumentation engineer will be responsible for, the duration and work schedule, after which the human resource department or other functional managers would have to approve the request. Based on the staffing management plan which is regularly updated during and beyond the project duration, the human resource requirements, timing and process for staffing can be determined. Thus, making it a vital input for the â€Å"Acquire Project Team† execution process. This plan also affects several aspects such as the budget, schedule, quality, risks of the project. . Enterprise environmental factors: these are related to the internal or external environment of the performing organization and are very important factors which can alter the project management options which in turn, impact the success of the project positively or negatively. These Enterprise Environment Factors include all policies, cultural practices, procedures, communication channels, infrastructure, staffing guidelines, quality standards, risk tolerances of the project stakeholders, market standards and conditions relevant to the project, government tandards, codes of conduct, legislation, skills and expertise of currently available human resources, work authorization systems, political climate within and outside of the organization. [6] 3. Organizational process assets: these assets include all past documents, historical data and information, formal or informal plans, guidelines, work breakdown structure templates, contracts, registers, assessment tools, organizational standard policies, processes and procedures, lessons learnt, earned values, estimations, risks, proposal evaluation criteria, etc. Having records of all these contribute to the success of subsequent projects. For example, if an organization wants to embark on a project, by simply modifying the template of a project management plan for the same or similar kind of project that has been done in the past, time, cost and errors are minimized, thus, a more successful project. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the project manager or project management team to search through the records of the organization for such historical information and collect all the necessary and relevant documentations before executing a project. It also is their responsibility to update the organizational process assets throughout the life cycle of the project. â€Å"Today’s project would be tomorrow’s history†. [6] In the case of an entirely new project of which the organization has no record, information regarding similar projects has to be gotten from other external sources. The lessons learned from the previous projects executed by an organization and the corresponding historical information usually constitute the organization’s knowledge base. [6] These enable more efficient planning and execution of future project. 1. 2. Acquire Project Team: Tools and Techniques 1. Pre-assignment: Assigning individuals to a project before it has commenced is called â€Å"Pre-assignment†. Some reasons why some project team members are often pre-assigned to projects include: the availability of the individual for the project duration the individual being promised to be part of a competitive contract because he/she possesses specialized skills or knowledge related to the project [3] it is entailed as a part of the project charter of an internal project[3] an opportunity for the individual to complete on-the-job training. Negotiation: This is used to obtain the best individuals for a project. Teams can be put together in various ways. In many organizations, they are formed at the discretion of a senior member of staff or the human resource department of the organization. [5] As the personnel in charge of, and understanding the requirements of a project, the project manager or project management team have to negotiate with the human resource department, functional managers or whoever is in the position to select members of the team, specifying the type of team required and the characteristics of the individuals that would be needed to create such a team. An unguided choice and mix of team members could reduce the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team which would in turn, adversely affect the project. It is not uncommon for Project managers to negotiate with other project managers to share the required human resources among projects, but in such agreements, the schedules of the concerned individuals have to be properly structured to ensure that the on-going projects are completed successfully and within the allocated time. 3] 3. Acquisition: This is used to obtain individuals from outside the organization [3]. The policies and procedures of the performing organization must be taken into consideration. â€Å"It is a fact that in the right formation, the lifting power of many wings can achieve twice the distance of any bird flying alone† – Milton Olson It is very important for project teams to have the right blend of skills, expertise, abilities and personality types. 5] Based on the human resource plan, available funds and other factors, the sources of the individuals can be determined, whether to be hired from external sources, transferred in from other departments within the organization, hired as subcontractors on a contract basis, on a part-time or full-time basis or on a virtual platform. Unfortunately, the politics of an organization usually come into play with staff acquisitions. For example, in exchange for the most valuable personnel, functional managers may request for various â€Å"favors† from project managers. The following reasons may give the project manager no other option but to procure the project team or individuals to complete the project work: -The internal human resources of the organization lack the required skills or expertise to complete the project work. Training costs and duration are also not feasible. It is more cost effective to procure the project. -The required/proposed project team members within the organization would not be available for the project or have various on-going assignments and projects. 3] Team composition The following should be taken into consideration when obtaining individuals to make up a team: -Skills and experience: knowledge, proficiency, technical expertise, problem-solving, interpersonal and decision-making skills amongst several skills. The right mix of skills is crucial. One or more members could learn complementary skills in which the team is deficient. [3] -Personality: preferences and personalities e. g. open individuals communicate better thus, a more creative and innovative team. 1] -Roles: Selection so as to fill the various roles broadly categorized as: the task-oriented roles and the maintenance roles. The task-oriented as the name suggests, ensures that the tasks of group members are accomplished, while the maintenance roles ensure the group members maintain good relations. A balance of this two is important for team effectiveness. Some members of the team can play multiple roles. Thus, the importance to select members who value flexibility, who can then be cross-trained so as to do one another’s jobs. [1] -Diversity: A heterogeneous mix of individuals. Different functional, demographic or cultural characteristics (jobs, positions, work experiences, age, race, sex, citizenship). [1] -Size: the required number of individuals needed per team or per project. Interest level: the potential team members’ interest in working on the project. [3] Availability: certainty of the availability of the potential team member for the duration of the project. [3] 4. Virtual teams: used where the team is to spend little or no time face-to-face with each other. This team is unrestricted by geographical location, disabilities, mobility constraints nd expenses, thus, also saves cost and time. Members of such a team telecommunicate in order to achieve a common goal. The geographical locations could be as far apart as across continents, or within the same state and in some cases, within the same building. Online communication links such as wide-area networks, video/audio conferencing and emails are used. [4] An example of a virtual team is a softw are development team consisting of a project manager, business analyst, software architect, designer, software developers and software testers. The software architect, designer and developers may come up with different models or designs, exchange them via electronic mail, and upon completion of different phases send to the software testers who in turn go through them, test, troubleshoot or debug, then send them back to the developers with appraisals, suggestions or recommendations. The final product could also be electronically delivered to the client while they also receive payment electronically. Thus, in some cases, the company might not require a physical office yet still get many contracts and have them perfectly executed. Though virtual teams have many advantages, a few of its disadvantages include: †¢Possibility of a lack of teamwork spirit. †¢Possibility of less productivity as compared to physical teams. Thus, members of this team require a high level of self-discipline. 1. 2. 3Acquire Project Team: Outputs 1. Project Staff Assignments: The roles and responsibilities are assigned to each of the team members. Following the staffing of the required human resources and team formation, the directory, roles and responsibilities of each team member are updated into the project management plan. Resource Calendars: taking into consideration, the time schedule (availability and conflict) of each team member, a master schedule/ documentation of the available time periods each member of the team can put into the project can be created. 3. Project Management Plan Updates: the process of project team acquisition eventually leads to an updating of the project management plan, as the new development and information gathered requires documentation.

Probes and Probabilities

Probes and Probabilities Probes and Probabilities Probes and Probabilities By Mark Nichol The Latin noun probus, meaning â€Å"virtuous† or â€Å"worthy,† is the ultimate source of probe and probability and their variants, which are listed and defined in this post. The verb probe is from the Latin word probare, derived from probus and meaning â€Å"demonstrate† or â€Å"test,† and means â€Å"examine† or â€Å"search.† The noun form, also probe, describes an investigation or search or a device for carrying out either type of procedure. A proband, meanwhile, is the first subject to be examined in a medical study to investigate, for example, a genetic disorder. Probate refers, as a noun or a verb, to validation of a will, and probation is study of a person to determine his or her fitness for a position or for rehabilitation after committing a crime, or the period during which the study occurs. (Adjectival forms are probational and probationary, and the adverbial form is probationally.) The probationer, the person under probation, seeks to demonstrate probity; that word, directly derived from probus, means â€Å"virtue.† The adjective probative means â€Å"exploratory† or â€Å"substantiating† and, in legal contexts, â€Å"relating to proof† or â€Å"tending to prove.† A reprobate is a person who demonstrates a lack of virtue. This term’s force has become diluted; it is now usually employed in a humorous sense as a synonym for rascal, but in the 1800s, it described a morally depraved person, and earlier, the connotation was of condemnation or damnation. As a verb, reprobate means â€Å"condemn,† â€Å"damn,† or â€Å"reject,† and it also serves as an adjective. Probable and its permutations are also descended from probare. Probable and probably derive from the Latin word probabilis, meaning â€Å"acceptable† or â€Å"provable,† and are synonyms for the adjectival and adverbial forms of likely, while the quality of being probable- as well as the mathematical concept of likelihood- is probability. (The antonyms for these words are formed by attaching the prefix im-.) In addition, the adjective probabilistic applies to philosophical and scientific concepts pertaining, respectively, to competing options and to the supposed invalidity of certainty. A subsequent post will detail the cognates proof and prove and other members of the probus family that deviate from the ancestral spelling. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Trends in Labor Force Participation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Trends in Labor Force Participation - Essay Example On the other hand, labor-force participation among men dropped from 87 percent to 71 percent. The author states that there has been a vast range of reasons that have led to the increase in women’s labor force participation. For instance, the rise and improvement of technology in the information era resulting into less time required for household chores, and changes in social and political attitudes among others (Mankiw 38). Alternatively, the decline in labor-force participation in men can be attributed to early and prolonged retirement period, and more time consumed in school among young men. Westernization and globalization has also affected the emergence and increase of labor-force participation among women. In the current world, women participation in various social, economic and political leadership positions has drastically increased. Women empowerment programs and women labor unions have played an imperative role in ensuring women get equal representation and fair treat ment in the workplace (Mankiw 38). According to some economists, labor-force participation is expected to drop in the future as a result of increased old population share in the labor market. Today, equal representation in the labor-force participation among men and women has been witnessed. On the other hand, there is need for government intervention in protecting available opportunities in order creates more chances and participation in the labor-force with women participation in the labor market increasing from 33 percent t0 59 percent.

Modernity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Modernity - Essay Example They have sought to find out the ways through which modernity could get transformed into an ideal feature, rather than following the path of returning to the idealized past. Marx’s perception regarding modernity was built up by three developments – the French revolution of 1989, and 1848, and the French theorists; the industrial and agricultural revolution in Great Britain and the economists of Britain; and finally decline of Churches credibility. He actually tries to make some projection regarding what kind of shape all these developments will take in future. Very often it is perceived by many economists and politicians that Marx’s analysis of capitalism is mainly based on the experience of the textile industry the Manchester. According to Marx capitalism has lead the way to ultimate modern society, which can also be termed as stateless communism. According to Marx modern world has also taken its birth through class struggle. Marx treated the classes in the society as the agents of social change. The determinants are nothing but the organization of production. This kind of assumption stemmed from the consideration of some philosoph ical ideas in the very early days. In past, each society no matter whatever be it form – tribal, feudal or capitalists, was characterized by how its member used produce their basic needs for living. Each society had a tradition of creating a ruling class and a subordinate class on the basis of the mode of production they used. Since it’s impossible for any individual to live without work, and to propagate his own style, each individual has a tendency to enter into relationships with other and form family. People use different tools to fulfill their needs, and as old needs get satisfied, new needs arise and along with it, there also arise the need for improving or inventing new technique of production. This kind of technological innovation results in division of labor which affects societal arrangements too. Division

Malaysias Microeconomic And Macroeconomic Environment Marketing Essay

Malaysias Microeconomic And Macroeconomic Environment Marketing Essay This chapter will discuss Malaysias microeconomic and macroeconomic environment to help the proponents know how much market potential they could have as they launch their product in the country. This chapter includes the countrys economic conditions, business environment and the consumer expenditure of Malaysians. In addition, this chapter also discusses the market segment that the proponents would like to target to fit as the users of the product. An analysis for the industry and the competitors are also discussed to determine the probabilities of success of the product. Malaysia practices a federal parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarchy in which the monarch is elected every five years from among the tribal elders of peninsular Malaysia. Malaysia has three branches of government including the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. These authorities serve as the separation of powers for a division of tasks to be performed in the country. The Executive branch consists of the Head of State and referred to as the King for having ceremonial duties. The Legislative branch consists of the bicameral parliament which comprises the House of Representatives. The member-parties of the National Front coalition form the government. The Lower House is composed of 222 members elected for five years from single member districts. 70 members of the Senate serve 3-year terms, with 26 of them elected by the state legislatures and 44 of them being appointed by the monarch or the King in the Prime Ministers recommendation. The Judicial branch consists of the Federal Court, Court of Appeals and high courts. The Federal Constitution of Malaysia has its basis from the Constitution of the Federation of Malaya. This will serve as a way to protect the country in having laws as basis to follow, connected to the authorities of the branches of the government. Najib Abdul Razak has been Malaysias Prime Minister since April 2009. Source: Euromonitor International Economic The economy of Malaysia according to Global Market Information Database is in a strong condition and expected to have faster progress where the officials are hoping for its performance boost when it comes to developments in manufacturing activities with a 60% target by 2020 in Gross Domestic Products for services. Economic Prospects According to Global Market Information Database, real GDP is expected to increase 6.7% in 2010, showing its fastest growth yet in several years for the first half of the year but the growth is expected to remain above 5.0% as domestic demand grows stronger to continue recovery. This increase got its support from stronger exports, particularly to China. The demand domestically will increase sooner due to better market conditions when it comes to labor, thus having an effect to increase the spending of the private consumers. Malaysia, just like in the Philippines, is known for their workers providing labor services. The countrys unemployment rate decreased to 3.4% in 2010 from 3.6% in 2009. Most of the workforces are sent in manufacturing division. However, the performance for workforce is poorly trained but workers from Indonesia and Vietnam are cheaper if to be compared, making the government work on this for improvement. In this case, the government has been investing heavily to improve income disparities in several regions. This activity will be continued until 2025. The progress for the projects during period of economic weakness may be slowed due to prioritizing of activities. Government Finance and Market Potential According to Global Market Information Database, government deficit rose to 7.5% of GDP due to programs they implement. In return, their spending with the help of fiscal consolidation will work together to lessen then 2010 deficit. Public debt will have its tendency to rise during the next several years, jumping from 52.5% in 2009 to 41.5% in 2008, equivalent to RM 354,266 million in 2009. However, interest rates would ease and found to be manageable. To withstand all the expenses, the government has the oil and gas industry of the country to support almost half of the revenues of the government. They also invest to achieve developments when it comes to manufacturing by having higher value added activities, encouraging service sector expansion. As an overview, Malaysias economic performance is impressive due to private investment recovery and offsetting expenses of the government. However, Total trade (exports plus imports) exceeded GDP, leaving the country especially vulnerable to the effects of the global recession. To boost economic growth and to attain stock market stabilization, the government acts by having two stimulus programs implemented and the funds will be used to help credit-starved firms, boost spending, support equity investment and fund off-budget projects. The indicators of business environment shows Malaysias rank when it comes to ease of doing business, together with different information relevant and needed to be considered when opening a business in the country. From the table, it shows time or duration estimates as you open or closes a business, duration for permits and taxes, importing and exporting and tax rates. These estimates may vary from time to time for these factors are considered to be uncontrollable and are changeable, depending on the government of Malaysias decisions. From the table, it shows an increase and a decrease of percentage throughout the years in Malaysias economic performance. If the inflation rate rises, this means that prices of goods are subject to change and rise, resulting as a factor to lower expenditure or consumption of consumers. Between years 2007 to 2008, there is an abrupt change in the percentage with a difference of 3.4%, resulting to change of high prices. But for the last two years for 2010 to 2011, there is an increase in percentage but not as bad as the performance over the former years to ease better consumption of the consumers. The table above shows Malaysias GDP performance. Malaysias GDP rose starting from 2009 to 2011 which is a great value if to compare to the value from former years. Higher GDP connotes a good performance in monetary value of all the goods and services being produced in the country. In this case, Malaysian citizens have the ability to procure or spend goods as the government takes its toll to improve and develop the countrys overall performance in goods and services. Malaysias Gross National Income performance in the latest years managed to increase except for the year 2009 where it decreased. GNI is the wealth in terms of monetary value of a country that it earned from all its economic activities, either products or services, throughout the world. In this case, even if it decreased in 2009, it managed to recover as it increased in 2010 which is even greater than the year before it stumbled down. This shows that the economy of Malaysia managed to do well not only covering the country alone itself but also with its transactions all over the world. The data above shows the consumption expenditure of Malaysians and the expenditure by resident households that can serve as a basis and information for La Me Sa. The consumption expenditure of Malaysian citizens increased consistently, which means that as years go by, they still have the ability to spend goods for either their needs or wants. La Me Sa is categorized as a furniture yet it has a function which supports high technology electronic gadgets specifically desktop and portable computers used at home. The data above shows the consumer expenditure of Malaysians in household goods and services where home furniture enters in this category. The way Malaysians spend for home furnishings increased consistently as well which shows a good demand indicator for La Me Sa. Since the product is connected to computers, possessions of computers by households shown in Table 2.11 shows that it also increased consistently due to changes in high technology which make life easier, faster and more productive. Investment According to GMID, Malaysias performance shows a low level when it comes to investments. The government then suggests having a remedy for such deficiencies for the investment division by thinking of other roles for public companies in order to compete with private sectors and to fit to investment climate. However, the foreign investment in manufacturing began to recover in 2010 as manufacturing covers 28.2% of GDP and employs 7.7% of the workforce and US$2 billion is expected to be committed in the next two years, including nearly US$300 million in retail investment.   To encourage investment, the government has granted a ten-year exemption on venture capital and introduced investment incentives in certain regions. This was followed in 2009 by the elimination of local-equity requirements for investors in various parts of the service sector. Foreign Trade According to GMID, Exporters struggled as a result of the global slowdown, particularly due to its effects on the worlds electronic markets. Total exports contracted in 2009 for the first time in eight years. Policy makers are working to boost domestic demand and wean the economy off its dependence on exports. Exports of machinery and transport equipment accounted for 46.5% of total exports in 2009. Singapore, the USA and EU-27 are Malaysias largest export markets, making up 14.0%, 11.0% and 10.9% respectively in 2009. The current account surplus in 2010 will be 14.7% of GDP and slip to 13.8% in 2011. Demographics According to Global Market Information Database, the population of Malaysia grew at an average rate of 2.3% per year and reached 28.6 million in 2010. This is an increase of 10.5 million in two decades. The median age is gradually rising in between ages 24-26 while the mean age is also gradually rising in between ages 27-28. According to United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, The rank of Malaysia is 43 when categorized in the number of population of countries in the world. Its rank among ASEAN countries is 6. Over the review period, the countrys population increased by more than 31% with solid growth recorded in all age groups, and that growth is expected to continue over the forecast period. By 2015, the projected population of Malaysias will reach more than 30.7 million. A lot of factors can affect a countrys population. These factors include the net migration of people from a country into another country and even the birth and death rate of the country. Aside from these, the lifestyles of people living in a country changes rapidly as well due to changes of preferences may it be about healthy living or the environment itself that they live in to. From the data above about the changes in population, there is a great shift in number of deaths in between years 2006 to 2011 for increasing consistently. However, in live births, numbers are both increasingly and decreasingly changing as well as in net migration. Live births decreased due to the decision of the people when it comes to marriage where they decide to marry in their later years and have just enough or fewer children. According to Global Market Information Database, Malaysias population continued to undergo an aging process during the review period. From the data above about the population of Malaysia by age, the number of people with ages 80 and above also grew. One of the reasons for a longer life expectancy is because of the improvement about the health care system in the country. There has been an increase in awareness in the country when it comes to healthier products and healthier lifestyle. The government also makes great efforts to ensure that they know the medical resources and alternatives available to them. In this case of increasing numbers in old age, consumer behavior also changes and the products entering the market change to fit for what the old-aged people would need. Obviously, products differ through ages. Middle-aged people would be into fashion, portable consumer electronic products due to rapid changes when it comes to technology and fast food. This just means that every age category has different preferences in which the market should offer something to consumers to fit their needs and wants The ratio for the population of males and females remains substantially the same. The population for males is increasing consistently, as well as for the females. Even though the population for both genders increases throughout the years, the number doesnt really change too much when it comes to differences. Men and women have totally different buying behavior due to needs and wants but changes have been occurring because most marketers and manufacturers are now seeking to sell products that would fit for both genders such as gadgets and other electronic products. The population for urban area is increasing consistently from 2006 up to 2011 while the population for rural area is decreasing consistently starting 2007 up to 2011. This is because of a lot of job opportunities booming in the cities of Malaysia especially urban areas where different industries are starting to get expansions. Just like any other countries, the population is undergoing urbanization rapidly. If a place has a lot of people and a lot of businesses are opening in a place in different industry types, these just mean that the place will have much more to offer for the people residing in the place. These people could either be in need of jobs or will serve as consumers who will choose in a wide range of varieties offered in the market. In this case, there are lots of differences between urban and rural areas, and the people living in the areas. Moreover, people residing in urban areas are most likely to influence and give exposure to the people residing in rural areas. After showing the demographics of Malaysia in general and totality as categorized by age, gender, urban and rural areas and key factors that affect changes of population, the data above shows the number of households in Malaysia and followed by percentages of households that possess computers that would fit as the possible users of the La Me Sa. It shows that the rates are consistently increasing throughout the years because of abrupt changes and upgrades when it comes to technology. This contributes as a great factor for the benefits and usage of La Me Sa. In Malaysia, the cultures present are adapted from different cultures from other countries including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian and even groups from North Borneo. In effect, a unified Malaysian culture is emerging in the country and the celebrations come together such as Chinese New Year, Moon Cake Festival and Hari Raya Puasa. Just like in the Philippines, they also celebrate Christmas but their celebration is only celebrated in a small scale due to a lesser number in populations who are Christians. Christmas is still treated as a public holiday as they also perk up their homes and business establishments with colorful decorations to experience the holiday atmosphere. Source: http://www.worldtravel4indians.com/malaysia/festivals-in-malaysia.html http://allmalaysia.info/msiaknow/festivals/christmas.asp Since a lot of cultures influenced the culture in totality of Malaysia, Malaysias cuisines are blended from different classes. Meals such as rice and noodles are the popular dishes in the country. However, since there are different religions, Muslims in particular are forbidden to eat pork but are a favorite dish for the Chinese and Buddhists are mostly vegetarian. Just like in the Philippines, Malaysians are also known for their hospitality with their guests as they offer food as a welcome. The usual drink offered is tea or coffee with small snacks. Religions Almost all the religions present in the world are present in Malaysia including Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism. Each religion shows different presence in the society, having strong sense in terms of practices, making it easier for the people to identify having the same religion. In Malaysia, the government is concerned with Muslim practices for having Islam as the highest percentage of all the religions in the country with 60%. Muslims holy place is called the National Mosque located in Kuala Lumpur in the year 1965. For the Christians who cover 10% in percentage, there are churches built for prayers, built as their holy place while temples are also built especially for Buddhists. Source:  Culture of Malaysia history, people, clothing, traditions, women, beliefs, food, customs, family  http://www.everyculture.com/Ja-Ma/Malaysia.html#ixzz1DjTxtna0 Technology as a Culture According to Global Market Information Database, the Malaysian government has been active with the updates about high technology, specifically computers and the internet for bringing these to schools, businesses and government agencies as tools to be used to introduce them to modern information age. Usage of internet is also sorted for either public use or just home connectivity, since most of the households have their computers with enabled internet services. This caused the increase in computer and internet users and business establishments offering services that would cater the needs of the consumers. These services include internet service providers, wireless services and developed broadband services. Because technology is now a part of the culture of the country just like in any other countries, La Me Sa would fit well as a product to be used together with these updating technology and in demand use for gadgets and computers, may it be for school, for business or even government purposes. Technological When it comes to technology, Malaysia makes it sure to be updated with the latest updates when it comes to gadgets and other electronic products. According to Global Market Information Database, Malaysias consumer expenditure when it comes to communications, televisions, media, telephones, computers, the internet and electronic gadgets increased in percentages. One of the fastest growing mobile telecommunications market in Southeast Asia belongs to Malaysia for reaching 71.2% in 2008 when it comes to total telecom revenues compared to 51% in 2003. Communications is an important role for a country especially to fill in business relationships in different industries. Through high technology services, it will be easier to do business transactions for faster services and results. Aside from the normal calls and sending SMS to other subscribers, telecommunications companies now offer mobile internet to easily communicate for either personal or business purposes. In this case, a persons work would be more productive for saving time to do something more important. Expenses for this category in totality have increased but for individual benefits, each of the users gets to save money, especially when it comes to habitual communications and international uses. Aside from telecommunications, the use of computers and the internet increased abruptly as well just like in any other countries in todays generation. The number of computer and internet users in Malaysia grew from nearly 5 million users in 2000 to more than 12 million users in 2007. This growth is about 144% and is consistently increasing throughout the years. Aside from the computers and the internet, more high technology electronic products are being in demand in the country such as portable electronic products, laptops and different kinds of on the go gadgets and easy keep gadgets due to wireless, portability and convenience features offered by service providers where competition in the said industry is starting to grow. Just like what the proponents discussed about technology being a part of the culture of the Malaysian, La Me Sa is a good choice of product to introduce in the market of Malaysia featuring technology and furniture industries. Target Market Profiling Description of Target Market The proponents would like to focus on households, residing a 25-34 year old male or female in Kuala Lumpur with a disposable income above $15,000 as their target market segment for La Me Sa. The proponents will not base or focus their target market to students. The students may be some of the end users of the product but the age range preferred are the people who are able to buy the product. Furthermore, businessmen or businesswomen, people with jobs such us for office works are also fit as users and are capable of buying the product. The population of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia consistently increases. The proponents choose Kuala Lumpur as the target market city not only because of the consistently increasing number of population or being the highest in terms of population, but also because it is the city where most business opportunities are present. If a lot of business establishments are present in Kuala Lumpur, this just means that there will be a lot of jobs to be offered for the Malaysian citizens, making them earn money to be able to spend for their needs and wants. Given the population for Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur, the proponents used the data to get the percentage of Kuala Lumpur in the country. Since the population for different age ranges in Malaysia is also given, the proponents used the percentage of Kuala Lumpur to multiply it with the population by age to set apart the data only for the city. Even though the percentage of Kuala Lumpur as a whole is decreasing, the population for the age range chosen by the proponents as target market is increasing consistently. The data for the population density in Malaysia or the population per unit area is also shown where throughout the years, it boosts constantly in terms of number of people in an area. Consistently increasing number of population could mean greater possibility or chance to have more consumers fit for the product. Connected with this factor, a greater impact would be present if these people in the given age range are earning money for having jobs. The technology nowadays, based on everyday experiences and lifestyles are seen to be a necessity already and according to Global Market Information Database, middle-aged consumers are mostly to spend their money in high technology gadgets and products. The proponents will focus on households with annual disposal income of over $15,000 and above. Due to lack of data where the disposable income corresponds to specific ages, the proponents considered the data for Malaysia in totality as a basis. It shows that households with the chosen disposable income are not increasing consistently. Between years 2008 and 2009, the disposable income of Malaysians dropped abruptly but managed to increase for the year 2010. The good thing about the given data is that the performance in terms of income got better because it will increase well for the present year which is 2011. This means that it is getting more progressive if to be compared with the past years, making them able to spend more of what they need and want. Psychographic and Behavior 25-34 year olds in Malaysia are increasing in number not only for the whole Malaysia but for Kuala Lumpur itself, which is what the proponents have chosen. It is forecasted to increase and would cover 25% in total population by 2015. From the Euromonitor Internationals report in their Population and Homes category for Malaysia, it has been mentioned that the said age range would increase further in the future. Another report under categories of Technology, Communications and Media and Consumer Trends and Lifestyles, there is a significant increase in number of middle aged consumers together with their disposable income. They served as a positive influence when it comes to sale of products including in-home consumer electronic products in particular. Being bachelors or bachelorettes and having a job while living in the city, middle aged consumers are also those people who tend to spend time with their families or deciding to start a family. Because of these behaviors and lifestyles, the middle aged consumers are known to be investing well when it comes to household durables, appliances and different home-related and home-improvement products and services.
